You may be planning for all the herbs, flowers and vegetables, but you’ll need to put in hard work to make your dream garden a reality.

The BBB says to research garden centers and landscaping companies before heading out to buy the supplies you need.

You should also ask for advice from knowledgable staff at plant nurseries. If you aren’t sure about certain plants or techniques, ask for the nursery’s best tips. Make sure you know what you are buying and where the plants were grown.

Inspect your plants before you make a purchase to be sure there are no crusty residue or white or brown specks which could indicate pests are living in the potting soil. And, understand plant return policies before making any major purchases.
