Scrutiny is growing, once again, on the Indiana Department of Child Services after 10-year-old boy died while in state foster care.
Porter County Sheriff’s officers and paramedics were sent to a home in Valparaiso, last Thursday, for a reported medical emergency.
The boy, identified as Dakota Stevens, was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where he died. It’s not known, right now, whether the boy had suffered from any medical conditions or if foul play was suspected.
The Indy Star reports Dakota is at least the second child involved with DCS to have died in April, which Governor Holcomb had designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
