The City is now accepting applications for the next round of Upskill SB, a program supporting job seekers, professionals, and recent high school or college graduates looking to earn industry-standard job certifications. Upskill offers training and exam reimbursements to help residents achieve new heights in their career.

“Alongside other local resources like Next Path and Next Level Jobs, there are so many opportunities for residents to upskill in their jobs and careers,” said Madi Rogers, Director of Civic Innovation. “We’re excited to continue the Upskill SB program that has enrolled nearly 100 participants since its inception.”

The program will accept up to 25 South Bend residents and will assist in identifying training and certifications that best fit each participant’s career interests and goals. Certification options include cloud computing, cybersecurity, project management, lactation counseling, doula training, solar technologies, and more. Upskill SB will reimburse the full exam costs and at least 50% of any training costs.

Additional financial aid will be made available to qualifying participants. Participants may also be eligible for technology borrowing if they do not have access to a computer or broadband internet. The courses are remote and self-paced learning programs, making it a great opportunity for people with non-traditional schedules or backgrounds. Participants must hold a high school diploma or GED and must live or work in South Bend for traditional courses.

Residents can apply and learn more about Upskill SB by visiting //southbendin.gov/upskillSB. The application will remain open until the cohort is full or until June 14th.
