Research shows food price increases may have topped out

Research from Purdue University indicates that food prices may have finally topped out. The price of food has been going up ever since supply chain shortages impacted the food supply throughout the U.S. due to the COVID pandemic.
Joe Balagtas, who heads up Purdue’s Center for Food Demand, says grocery prices in the last four or so months in 2024 have not been rising. But, he says you should not expect prices to fall back to pre-pandemic levels, if at all.
Many economists say that “deflation” would indicate a significant problem with the economy.

Prices won’t “top out” until we stop borrowing money into existence. That means not running a deficit, so it will never happen.

Money is just another commodity, responding to supply and demand. Increase the supply, and it loses value. The economists cited by the government and the media are selected precisely because they won’t mention this fact.
