Elkhart Fire Department burning tree, brush storm debris

The Elkhart Fire Department has received a 60-day burn permit from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Burning of trees and brush from the July 16 will begin on Monday.
The burn will begin at 7:00am Monday, July 22 at the City of Elkhart’s Toledo Road site. The burn will go from 7:00am to 3:00pm every day until it is no longer needed. There will be NO burning if winds are too high, on an Air Quality Action Day, or if a burn ban is in place.
The burn will be supervised by city staff and fire personnel.
ONLY tree limbs and brush will be burned. It is critical for storm debris to be properly separated. Please see attached for separation guidance.
