The South Bend School Board has officially voted to end The Empowerment Zone.

The Zone schools-Coquillard, Harrison, Wilson Elementary, and Navarre Middle School-will now be managed by the South Bend Community School Corporation after students in those schools fell below education standards a few years ago.

South Bend School’s Superintendent said making the decision to manage the schools, once again, was the most cost-effective option.
