Crops have been impacted this summer by the unpredictable weather patterns.
Rain, then heat, then cold, then rain again, then heat, then the remnants of Hurricane Beryl…the weather has been a roller coaster this season for growers.
Brienna Slonaker of the Marshall County Ag & Natural Resources Extension told WSBT that the erratic weather is keeping farmers on their toes. Although our area saw nearly 7 inches of rain, much of it came all at once. That kind of potential for flooding has impacted crops like soy beans, and many fields have dead spots around the region.
it will be difficult to say how bad the impacts are until harvest time.
