Elected leaders and political candidates from Indiana are reacting to Vice President Kamala Harris’ choice of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate ahead of November’s election.
Republican U.S. Representative Rudy Yakym, who represents Indiana’s 2nd congressional district, says the Harris-Walz ticket is “the continuation of a failed agenda” and that “Hoosiers are ready to elect Donald Trump and JD Vance in November”.
The decision to select Walz was also criticized by Republican U.S. Representatives Jim Banks and Todd Young as well as Republican U.S. Senator Mike Braun.
The Indiana Democratic Party issued a statement in support of the ticket, saying Walz will “prioritize the small towns and cities throughout the industrial Midwest that are often overlooked”.
Democratic U.S. Representative Andre Carson and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jennifer McCormick also issued statements of support.
