The only team the Indiana Fever have not beaten this season is the Las Vegas Aces. The Aces made sure it stayed that way Wednesday night with an 86-75 victory over Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Aces have also now 14 straight wins over the Fever.
The Aces led by as many as 12. The Fever had a 7-0 lead early, but Vegas outscored them 20-11 to lead by two at the end of the first quarter. The Fever got as close as one, but couldn’t regain the lead after that.
Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark scored 16 points, but only made 1 of 10 three-point shots and went 6-22 from the field overall. She still has 16 games in a row with at least 15 points and five assists. Kelsey Mitchell scored 24 points to lead the Fever. She has now scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games.
Las Vegas Center A’Ja Wilson led all scorers with 27 points and 12 rebounds. She also became the WNBA’s single-season scoring leader in the process. She could become the first player in league history to score 1,000 points in a year. She has 956 right now with four games left in the regular season.
The Aces shot 46% from three-point range while the Fever hit only 27% of their three-point field goals.
The Fever dropped to 19-18 with the loss. The Aces have the fifth best record in the league at 23-13.
Both the Aces and the Fever play each other again Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 7:30 pm.
