Indiana University South Bend held its ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Dwyer Healthcare Simulation Center yesterday morning.
It’s a 20,000 square foot facility that allows nursing and radiography students to learn applied professional skills in a simulated medical environment.
It has hospital rooms with beds, equipment and mechanized human manikins that can respond to engineered commands through software.
Radiography students can also simulate imaging exams on full-body phantoms in order to better understand radiographic positioning and safety concepts.
The public was invited to the grand opening and were able to tour the facility as well as talk with students and faculty about the state-of-the-art features.
