BCHD works to raise awareness of prescription drug misuse

The Berrien County Health Department and Voice.Change.Hope. Alliance are working to raise awareness of prescription drug misuse.

Almost one in eight Michigan high schoolers say they have misused a prescription pain reliever in their lifetime, according to a survey by the CDC.

So, the Health Department is raising local awareness by providing resources for parents and caregivers about the risks of prescription drug misuse.

They say to help prevent the misuse, you should properly dispose of unused and expired prescription medication.

Talk with loved ones about safe prescription drug use, and model a healthy relationship with the medication by only taking it as prescribed. For more resources, visit the Berrien County Health Department’s website.
