Just before 7 p.m. on October 30, a 911 call reported gunfire inside a home on the 100 block of Hendricks Street. A second call came from a resident inside, who said they had been shot.

Police quickly arrived, detaining 33-year-old Martino Eldridge of Michigan City as he tried to flee. Inside, officers found a person with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to Franciscan Health Michigan City Hospital and later transferred to the University of Chicago Hospital due to severe injuries.

After a review, a judge charged Eldridge with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Criminal Recklessness, setting his bond at $100,000. Eldridge’s first court appearance is scheduled for November 4.

Police are asking any witnesses or anyone with video of the incident to contact Detective Corporal Kay Pliske at (219) 874-3221 Ext. 1086 or at kpliske@emichigancity.com as the investigation continues.

Why wasn’t he held without bond? I’ve seen less charges than this with no bond!
