A two-vehicle collision early Friday morning at the intersection of SR 119 and CR 40 left three individuals injured, including a one-year-old child.
According to authorities, a 2010 Nissan Maxima, driven by a 29-year-old Mishawaka woman, failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling eastbound on CR 40. The vehicle collided with a 2012 Nissan Versa, driven by a 37-year-old Gosen man who was traveling southwest on SR 119.
The woman was cited for driving without a valid license, lack of insurance, and disregarding a stop sign, reported chest pain and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital. Her passenger, a one-year-old boy, suffered head pain and was also hospitalized.
The Goshen man was also cited for driving without a valid license, sustained lower leg and back pain. He was taken to Goshen Hospital for treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.

It’s time to place a traffic light system at the intersection of SR 119 and CR 40. Too many close-calls, and the angle of sight for those on CR40 is a strain on the neck, plus on-coming traffic on CR 40 seldom signals intention as to going straight thru or turning either direction.
