Indiana State Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at a residence on Monroe Street. Officers from the Rochester Police Department and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched after receiving a report of an armed domestic dispute.
When law enforcement arrived, the suspect, identified as Steven T. Harding, was found inside the home, allegedly pointing a firearm at officers. In response, a Rochester officer and a sheriff’s deputy fired their weapons, striking Harding.
Despite attempts to administer life-saving measures, Harding was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified.
