A 6-year-old girl was injured Tuesday evening after being struck by a car in the 30000 block of Riverbend Circle. The incident occurred around 5:35 p.m.

According to police, a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by Amanda Biggs, 46, of Osceola, was traveling westbound when the child ran out from between two parked cars into the street. The car struck the juvenile with its front passenger-side bumper.

The child sustained injuries to her right thigh and was transported by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. Biggs, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time, was uninjured, and her vehicle sustained no damage.

Authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the incident, and no citations were issued. The investigation remains ongoing.
