Congressman Rudy Yakym has criticized the Department of Transportation’s delays in executing grant agreements for awards under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
In a letter to Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Yakym noted that only 6 of 17 publicized projects have executed grant agreements, blaming bureaucratic red tape that the DOT is saddling grant recipients with.
He highlighted that only 39% of RAISE program grants have been finalized over three fiscal years.
Yakym also pointed to a 40% increase in construction costs under the Biden-Harris administration, stating that the costs and inflation have eroded the value of the trillion-dollar investment.
He urged the DOT to address these delays and requested information by December 12th about when infrastructure projects will happen.

He’s losing his job and he’s not going to do anything
Pothole Pete strikes again!
Maybe for another billion dollars the boy genius can get two more charging stations installed.
So what do yo all expect will happen with the $15 million the state has been granted to install fiber optic internet for rural customers?
How about you stop pointing fingers and do something about getting those grants pushed through?
By the way, someone should seriously question the “infrastructure” abortion being built on the Toll Road overpass on State Route 19 north of Elkhart. days go by with NO WORK being done yet the traffic restrictions continue. Now it is winter with temps well below those needed to finish the work. AND it is UGLY!!! I wonder how much time=money has been stolen from motorists trying to pass that area on restricted lanes. A complete WASTE OF FUNDS.
