New software has been helping Goshen High School officials to detect drugs on campus more easily.
The Goshen News says it’s the final week of the school’s 30-day trial of the HALO Smart Sensor 2C System which helps sense vaping and smoking.
The system is in men’s and women’s common area restrooms by the cafeteria. If the sensor detects the activity, alerts notify administration and the resource officer’s phones.
In the past few weeks, the program registered about 7,000 total alerts, though many were back-to-back and related to the same incidents.
There were six THC vape alerts in the first two days, and they say administration response was higher in the men’s restroom due to a male resource officer covering lunch.
The board did not decide whether or not to continue the program or to expand it to other areas.
