An Elkhart man learned that he will spend his prison sentence in alternative placement last week.

Juan Camacho Gallardo pleaded guilty to causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle intoxicated in a crash that happened in 2022.

Camacho Gallardo allegedly told medics at the scene that he’d had four or five drinks prior to the crash, and he showed signs of uncooperative behavior, threatening to kill himself and others.

The Goshen News says a toxicology report found that his BAC would have been .279 at the time of the crash, and THC was present in his blood.

He was sentenced for causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle while intoxicated to five years at the Indiana Department of Corrections with alternative placement at Michiana Community Corrections.
