Record number of Hoosiers expected to travel this holiday season

The AAA Hoosier Motor Club is expecting a busy holiday travel season, with a “record” number of people expected to visit friends and family across the United States.
The organization believes nearly 2.8 million Hoosiers will be traveling between December 21st and January 1st, with the busiest day likely to be this coming Sunday.
This is a fraction of the 119.3 million expected to travel nationwide. But, according to AAA spokesperson Christina Griffiths, these numbers are only indicative of those who will venture at least 50 miles.
Griffiths said, “We are expecting to surpass the previous record that was set in 2019.” That year, about 2.6 million Hoosiers traveled for the holidays – part of 119.27 million nationwide.
And, about “90% of travelers will be driving” during this period. This means you may experience some lengthy delays on the road, especially around the afternoon and early evening hours.
