A La Porte County bus driver has been charged with Felony Operating While Intoxicated.

38-year-old Kayla Pier of Michigan City was a bus driver for the LaPorte Community School Corporation, though on September 20, reports surfaced from elementary and middle school students on the bus about Pier’s mannerisms.

Pier was removed from driving and resigned from the corporation that day.

A toxicology report was submitted, and on December 19, an arrest warrant was issued for Pier.

She self-surrendered on Friday and was booked into the LaPorte County Jail.
