Congressman Rudy Yakym has reintroduced a bill focused on mental healthcare for disabled veterans.

On Thursday, Yakym put forward the Sgt. Ted Grubs Mental Healthcare for Disabled Veterans Act. He introduced the bill in the last session, as well. It would require the Veterans’ Administration to lower their Designated Access Standards to five days for vets who seek mental healthcare for a mental disorder connected to their service, for which they have a disability rating above 50%.

The bill is named for a veteran in the district who was told there would be a long wait before he could be treated for PTSD and complex TBI.

No good healthcare occurs in government healthcare.

Stop making it seem like there are inherent mental issues associated with service.
