Two injured, one cited in early morning collision at State Road 120 and County Road 35

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Road 120 and County Road 35 early left two injured and one driver cited for disregarding a stop sign.
The incident happened just before 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, when police say a 2009 Nissan Maxima was traveling southbound on County Road 35 when it entered the intersection at a high rate of speed, disregarding a stop sign. The Maxima collided head-on with a 2014 Ford F150 traveling eastbound on State Road 120.
The impact pushed both vehicles off the southern edge of the roadway, where they came to a complete stop.
The driver of the Nissan sustained head, neck, chest, and back injuries and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital. A passenger in the Nissan suffered a suspected broken arm and wrist and was also hospitalized after being extracted from the vehicle. The driver of the Ford F150 complained of chest pain and was transported to the hospital as well.
The driver of the Nissan was cited at the scene for disregarding the stop sign. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.
The crash remains under investigation.
