St. Joseph County and the Michiana Area Council of Governments are working to target busy Osceola train crossings.
The crossing at Ash Road and Lincoln Way sees more than 12,000 vehicles and 100 trains daily, bringing concerns about the amount of traffic.
WSBT says in the last decade there have been seven train-related incidents in the area, three of which resulted in death. Engineers will be looking at options to improve safety at the crossing as well as others in the area with a goal of creating an overpass.
The Michiana Area Council of Governments plans to seek public input soon.
