Man, 56, injured in Newberg Township stabbing

Cass County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a stabbing on High St in Jones, Michigan. It happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26.

Responding deputies found a 56-year-old man who had suffered multiple knife wounds. They gave him aid to control his bleeding before turning his care over to medical first responders from Newberg Fire Department.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

Deputies arrested a 20-year-old man who was a short distance away from the home.

The investigation indicates there was a domestic assault that had taken place involving the suspect and a female, who, along with the victim, all lived at the home.

The victim received his injuries after becoming involved in that altercation.

The incident remains under investigation.
