A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect starting 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 until 10 a.m. on Thursday for the entire MNC listening area. This is due to freezing rain and accumulating ice. Up to 0.1″ of ice is possible on surfaces overnight tonight.
Wednesday starts out dry and mostly cloudy. Highs will warm to the low 30s. Most of the daylight hours will just be cloudy so no travel issues are expected until late tonight. This afternoon and evening a few snow showers along with sleet and freezing rain will be possible but will be very light. This sleet and freezing rain will continue overnight, becoming heavier after midnight creating some slick spots for driving late Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Thursday morning will be icy and slick. Plan extra drive time or at least a slower morning commute. We still could see a few rain or snow showers early but most of the morning will just be dealing with the icy roads and clouds. Highs Thursday afternoon will be in the upper 30s to near 40, warm enough to melt any ice.
After this system passes, temperatures look to cool to around seasonable at the end of the week. Highs Friday are expected to be around 30.
We have the potential for another round of snow/sleet/freezing rain for the weekend, specifically on Saturday. Details are still being worked out, but we are confident that part of the weekend will see impacts as a result.
