South Bend man arrested on weapons, drug charges

A 32-year-old man wanted on gun and drug charges was arrested after police obtained a search warrant for a home on the 900 block of E. Dayton Street in South Bend.
Kyre Young was wanted for possession of a handgun without a license and possession of marijuana. Around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, the Warrants Division spotted Young at the home. When officers were denied entry, they secured a search warrant and returned shortly after.
As a precaution, police notified staff at St. Matthews School, advising them to keep students indoors during the operation.
Young was taken into custody inside the home without incident and transported to the St. Joseph County Jail.

“possession of a handgun without a license”

No such thing in a private residence, or even in public now (though you still have to be a “proper person” under Indiana code to carry in public).
