Indianapolis is preparing for a strong year of tourism in 2025 after a record-setting 2024. City leaders gathered Wednesday for Visit Indy’s annual State of Tourism event to review the city’s successes and plan for an even busier year.
Over 1,000 people filled the Indiana Convention Center for the event. Mayor Joe Hogsett highlighted the city’s growth,
“Indy continues to set the bar higher and higher for major events, and we’re excited to welcome even more visitors in 2025.”
Indianapolis kicked off 2025 by setting a new attendance record for the WWE Royal Rumble, which drew over 70,000 fans.
Major events this year include the NFL Combine, March Madness, the Indianapolis 500, WNBA All-Star Weekend, the Big Ten Football Championship, and the Indiana Fever season
The Indiana Fever received the Bill McGowan Leadership Award, the city’s top tourism honor.
Fever star Caitlin Clark shared her thoughts on Indianapolis, saying, “I hope they had a great time, saw how welcoming this city is, and how amazing the people are. It’s the Midwest, and people here are really kind-that’s what I’ve loved about my time here.” With so many big events coming up, 2025 looks set to be another record-breaking year for the city.
