City of South Bend approves $800 thousand deal to purchase State Theatre from Utah firm

The South Bend Redevelopment Commission has approved the purchase of the State Theatre for $800,000 from a Utah investment firm.
The first step will be stabilizing and weatherproofing the building. The city may seek a new buyer for repurposing the theater.
There is no confirmed budget or timeline for stabilization.
