A crash led to the arrest of two individuals after a pickup truck veered off the road and into a ditch, authorities said.
Deputies responded around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, to the 6500 block of County Road 400 West, where they found a truck that had struck several mailboxes before coming to a stop. The driver, Austin Higgins, 25, showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody .
The passenger, Kally Rowe, 30, refused to exit the vehicle and became aggressive. Two officers had to remove her and she resisted arrest. While being taken into custody, Rowe allegedly spat at one of the deputies later kicked the windshield of the patrol car, forcing officers to restrain her again.
At the LaPorte County Jail, Rowe continued to be combative and kicked a jail deputy.
Higgins was charged with Operating While Intoxicated and later released on bond. Rowe faces charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Disorderly Conduct and remains in custody.
