A two-vehicle collision on County Road 2 left one driver injured and resulted in significant vehicle damage.

The collision happened around 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at the intersection of County Road 2 and County Road 39.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s investigators say a Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 43-year-old Etna Green man was traveling northeast when it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The vehicle collided head-on with a Chevrolet Trax, driven by a 55-year-old Elkhart man, who was heading southwest.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end and driver’s side damage. The Etna Green man was taken to Goshen Hospital for treatment. The other driver wasn’t hurt.

Authorities cited the Etna Green man for driving at speeds too fast for road conditions and for crossing the center line.
