A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 26 and County Road 1 left multiple people injured and resulted in a traffic citation.
It was around 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, when a Hyundai Tucson was traveling eastbound on County Road 26 when it stopped at a posted stop sign before proceeding into the intersection. The Hyundai entered the path of a southbound Jeep Cherokee, which had the right of way. The Jeep was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side of the Hyundai before veering off the road and into a field.
Emergency responders reported that all four individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, a 74-year-old woman from Elkhart, complained of overall pain. The driver of the Jeep, a 52-year-old woman from Osceola, also reported similar pain.
Two passengers in the Jeep sustained additional injuries. A 47-year-old Elkhart woman suffered a knee laceration, while a 20-year-old Osceola woman complained of neck pain.
The driver of the Hyundai was cited for failing to yield the right of way at an intersection, resulting in bodily injury.
