Two people killed in early Saturday morning crash on U.S. 12 in Berrien County

Alcohol many be a factor in a crash that killed two people in Berrien County.

The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, at the intersection of US-12 and South Redbud Trail when a 19-year-old man from Iowa, traveling south on Redbud Trail, failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle driven by a 36-year-old Edwardsburg man.

The 19-year-old was trapped inside his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The 36-year-old was ejected from his vehicle and transported to the hospital where he later died.

Officials have not released the victims’ names.

Investigators noted that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
