Man arrested on battery, invasion of privacy charges after stabbing

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on preliminary charges of Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Invasion of Privacy following a stabbing.

According to the St. Joseph County Police Department officers responded to reports of a stabbing around 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, in the 45000 block of Terrace Lane. Upon arrival, officers spotted a vehicle attempting to leave the scene and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, later identified as Preston Bailey, exited the vehicle and was found bleeding. Officers immediately provided medical aid before paramedics arrived. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While securing the scene, officers discovered a second victim, who also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. That individual was treated at the hospital and later released.

After receiving medical care, Bailey was taken to the SJCPD detective bureau for questioning. Following the interview, he was booked into the St. Joseph County Jail.

Authorities have not released further details on what led to the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
