A 26-year-old LaGrange man was injured after his vehicle crashed while trying to avoid a collision.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies responded to County Road 36 east of County Road 35 for a single-vehicle crash.
It happened around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, at County Road 36 east of County Road 35 when a 2018 Ford Escape, driven by a 26-year-old LaGrange man, was traveling east on C.R. 36, approaching a horse-drawn buggy which was also traveling east.
Authorities say the Escape then went left of center to pass the buggy when another vehicle was heading westbound.
The Escape avoided the other vehicle and the buggy by going off the north side of the road, then crashed into a mailbox, and a concrete drainage ditch.
The driver was treated on scene by medics for non-life-threatening injuries, including a laceration to his face and head.

I dont believe Amish should be allowed to put horses on public roads! This is exactly what happens. Often times even worse including lives lost. The horses deserve better and its their lives at risk too. This is not the 1800’s where horses were the mode of transport!
