A boating incident on Lake Michigan has resulted in one person’s death.

Indiana Conservation Officers responded to reports of two people in the water after a boat capsized near East Chicago at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 21.

A good Samaritan pulled one person to safety, and a search team later recovered the body of an Illinois man.

Investigators cited strong winds, large waves, and near-freezing water temperatures at the time.
