Motorcyclist killed in crash on Eddy Street in South Bend

A motorcyclist was killed following a crash in South Bend.

Officers responded to the 500 block of South Eddy Street around 7:15 p.m. on March 26 after receiving reports of a serious motorcycle collision.

Preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle was heading south near Jefferson Intermediate School when the rider lost control. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a northbound vehicle.

The victim, an adult male and the sole rider, died from his injuries at the scene.

Police say speed appears to have played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
