Driver injured after hydroplaning crash on US 20 in Elkhart County

A Niles woman was injured after her vehicle hydroplaned and crashed along U.S. 20 near the Elkhart county line.
The collision happened on Wednesday morning, April 2, during heavy rainfall.
According to authorities, the driver was heading westbound in a Toyota Avalon when the vehicle lost traction, struck the median, and came to rest facing eastbound in the westbound right lane.
A witness traveling eastbound said the crash unfold and turned around to assist the driver, who reported neck pain.
She was later taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with non-life-threatening injuries.
