Southwest Michigan’s Ascension Health Care has been bought by Beacon Health System of Northern Indiana.

The agreement was finalized last week with a transition expected in the next couple months.

Beacon’s CEO, Kreg Gruber, says Ascension sites will be brought under a strong, locally owned organization with resources for quality care.

Four hospitals, 35 outpatient clinics and an ambulatory surgery center will be rebranded as Beacon facilities, WSJM reports.

Locations in Dowagiac, Plainwell, Kalamazoo and Allegan will be affected, though patient care will remain uninterrupted.
