The Food Bank of Northern Indiana’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is coming up, and you don’t even have to leave your house.
It’s the 32nd annual NALC food drive where letter carriers collect thousands of pounds of food donations. Letter carriers collect donations along their postal routes in more than 10,000 communities.
The Food Bank’s goal is to collect 100,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to restock the shelves for the summer months when they say donations are typically low, but the need for food is high.
They’re looking to collect canned soup, boxed dinner meals, peanut butter, jelly, boxed noodles, canned fruit, rice, cleaning supplies and personal care items.
The last time the Food Bank met its 100,000 pound goal was in 2019, so they’re working hard to reach the goal this year.
Donations should be left out for carriers to collect on Saturday, May 10.
