Due to overwhelming interest and the first town hall reaching full capacity, the St. Joseph County Assessor has announced a second public town hall meeting regarding 2025 assessed property values.
The town hall will take place from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 7th, on the 4th Floor Council Chambers at the County-City Building in South Bend.
The first town hall, in mid-May, exceeded expectations, attendance-wise.
This second town hall will follow a similar format, with a quick presentation, Q&A session, and open discussion time.
Topics will include property values, the ratio study and its role in assessment, appeal procedures, influences on property value determination, and other frequently asked questions and resident concerns.  Doors will open at 9:30 AM. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents are advised all individuals entering the County-City building will be subject to search.
The Council Chamber has a seating capacity of 150 persons, with the exterior lobby seating an additional 50 persons.
For those unable to attend in person, the county is exploring livestream and recording options to expand access further.
