Suspect in custody after robbery attempt at Horizon Bank in Elkhart

The Elkhart Police Department has a male suspect in custody after an attempted robbery at the Horizon Bank branch in the 1900 block of East Bristol Street.

At approximately 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, Elkhart Police Department officers were dispatched to a robbery-in-progress call. The initial investigation indicates that a male suspect handed an employee a note demanding money. No weapons were displayed and there were no injuries.

After the officer’s arrival, employees safely exited the building. Elkhart Police Department officers took the suspect into custody at about 10:20 a.m.

The case is being forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal criminal charges.
