Two major road projects will bring closures to Elkhart County starting Monday, June 9.
State Road 119 near Wakarusa will be closed between State Road 19 and County Road 9 as crews realign County Road 7 to improve safety. The project, led by INDOT, is expected to finish by early October. County Road 7 will be closed at State Road 119, and flaggers will manage traffic in the area.
In downtown Wakarusa, milling and paving will also continue this week, weather permitting. No parking is allowed on affected streets, including:
Railroad St. (S. Elkhart St. to E. Wabash Ave.)
Washington St. (W. Waterford St. to 306 S. Washington)
Park St. (Railroad St. to E. Wabash Ave.)
W. Harrison St. (S. Washington to cul-de-sac)
Alley behind post office (S. Olive St. to S. Elkhart St.)
State Road 13 north of Middlebury will also close for bridge work over the Indiana Toll Road. Work is expected to finish by mid-September. Drivers should follow the official detour via State Road 120, State Road 15, M-103, and U.S. 12. Local traffic can still access County Road 4 from State Road 13.
