Man arrested after threatening family member and burning down home in Cass County

Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dangerous situation on the 25000 block of Morton Street after receiving reports of a man threatening a family member with a firearm. The suspect also allegedly threatened to burn down the residence with the occupants still inside.
Upon arrival, deputies apprehended a 52-year-old man and ensured the safety of all individuals at the home. A search of the residence led to the discovery of a firearm matching the description provided by the victim.
The suspect was arrested and charged with felony firearm possession, domestic violence, and felonious assault. His name is being withheld pending arraignment in the 4th District Court.
Assisting with the investigation were the Dowagiac Police Department, Pokagon Tribal Police Department, and K-9 Sitka.
