Cass County deputies recover stolen vehicle, arrest two juveniles after cross-state pursuit

Two juveniles were taken into custody following a vehicle theft and police chase that ended across the state line in Elkhart, Indiana.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a larceny in progress from a motor vehicle on Kristy Lane in Mason Township around 12:59 a.m. on Saturday, June 21. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a stolen vehicle at the scene.

Deputies soon located a suspect vehicle that fled the area, leading authorities on a pursuit into Indiana. The vehicle eventually stopped in Elkhart, where the suspects attempted to flee on foot. Officers pursued and detained two juvenile suspects.

Deputies recovered a firearm and other stolen property at the scene. The vehicle used by the suspects was also confirmed stolen.

Due to their age, the names of the juveniles are not being released.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to call their tip line at 1-800-426-9328 or submit tips anonymously at www.ccso.info.

The Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department, Elkhart City Police, and Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

How? If it was stolen, would it be there?

Also present were a perpetual motion machine and Santa Claus’ left boot.
