A 62-year-old Elkhart man was hospitalized following a motorcycle crash in Cass County.

Sheriff’s deputies responded just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, to the area of U.S. 12 and Birch Road in Porter Township for a reported personal injury accident.

An investigation revealed that the man was riding westbound on U.S. 12 when he lost control of his motorcycle. The bike left the roadway at high speed and Wheeler was thrown into a nearby ditch.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, officials said.

He was transported by emergency medical personnel to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
