New study examines patterns of business scam reports

A new International Investigations Initiative study about scams targeting businesses has recently been released.

The study examines patterns of reports, reviews the amount of money lost, and shares stories from those caught up in the scams.

The BBB Scam Tracker has totaled more than 3,600 business scams since 2022, involving employee and vendor impersonations, theft of social media accounts, data breaches and several more.

Scammers can steal hundreds of thousands of dollars in moments without proper safeguards, making it extremely important to have security in place. In just 2024, data breaches cost businesses a total of $1.4 billion.
