A 30-year-old illegal immigrant living in Elkhart has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to illegally reentering the United States.
Daniel Alvarez-Reyes was sentenced to 37 months behind bars in U.S. District Court in South Bend.
Court records show Alvarez-Reyes has a criminal history that includes felony drug convictions in both Indiana and Ohio, as well as a previous conviction for illegal reentry in Texas.
He was deported from the U.S. twice before — first in April 2019 and again in January 2020 — prior to his latest arrest and conviction.
