The St. Joseph City Commission has provided an update from the latest parking subgroup discussions.

City Manager Emily Hackworth says the parking subgroup has recommended to commissioners that the city extend the current paid parking pause through the year and develop new updates to the program before relaunching it in the spring.

WSJM says after the poorly received rollout of paid parking in May, commissioners suspended the program while issues with non-ADA compliant pay stations are resolved.

Commissioners did not take action on the recommendation to continue the pause, but their previous vote to suspend the program will remain in place until they take some other action.
