The City of Elkhart invites the community to celebrate the holiday weekend at the annual City of Elkhart Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 1, at 11 a.m. The parade will march down Main Street from Harrison Street to Lexington Avenue, featuring more than 35 entries that showcase the pride and spirit of Elkhart.
This year’s parade features marching bands, dance and cheer teams, local unions and nonprofits, martial arts groups, community organizations, local businesses, and Elkhart’s own police and fire departments.
“Labor Day is about celebrating the hard work and dedication of our community,” said Mayor Rod Roberson. “The City of Elkhart Labor Day Parade is a tradition that brings people together to honor workers, showcase our local organizations, and enjoy downtown Elkhart. Even though the orange cones are inconvenient we wanted to ensure the community has a grand parade on Labor Day. Those orange cones signify the progress of tomorrow. We can’t wait to see families and friends lining Main Street for this celebration.”
Road Closures & Parking
To ensure a safe event, several downtown streets will be closed before and during the parade:
·3rd Street and Main Street will be closed before and during the parade.
· 2nd Street remains closed for construction.
·Civic Plaza parking will remain accessible via Waterfall Drive to High Street and Franklin Street.
The parade is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, find a spot along Main Street, and enjoy the sights and sounds of this beloved Elkhart tradition.
