Cybercriminals make rounds through Michigan

Cybercriminals are making their rounds through Michigan residents’ phones.

In the latest scheme, scammers are sending urgent, unsolicited messages appearing to come from the Michigan Department of Treasury.

The message claims that a refund has been processed and that the taxpayer must provide accurate payment information or else the refund will be forfeited.

However, the Michigan Department of Treasury says they will never send unsolicited messages asking for personal data.

They say not to click on any links and do not reply to the message.
